The Boot, The Desert Caballeros Rose

Thank You everyone who sponsored keeping THE BOOT as apart of the permanent collection and will be on display inside the museum (it's currently in the Cultural Crossroads Learning Center, but that may change). the Desert Caballeros Museum in Wickenburg, Arizona at the Sunday Auction at COWGIRL UP! 2016.

Why the THE BOOT is so significant: The Boot was purchased at the Saturday night auction by the DeVore Family Foundation, who generously donated it back to the Desert Caballeros Museum in honor of the late Dick DeVore, longtime friend and supporter of DCWM. Additionally eleven individuals and families each pledged $1,000 to ensure the Boot's legacy at DCWM.

Those names are:

Lynn and John Boyer, Betsy and Myron Deibel, Gail and Arthur Ditto, Rich DeVore, Lori and Richard Jaros, Rea and Jim Ludke, Sally and Monte Miller, Eleanor Nolan, Judy and Lee Schuster,  Elaine and Peter Schweitzer and Betty and Tom Watt.

Sunday morning at the Quick Draw action, The Boot was donated  was an exceptional touching event, I was in tears as were many others.   The Devore family were so gracious. Thank you and the Sponsors who gave so generously to keep The Boot at the museum. Our words cannot express the gratitude, Roger & I feel for your generosity.  We are so proud to have been asked to do THE BOOT! Thank you.

New Name for the Boot

"Desert Caballerous Roses"

What a wonderful  journey. A collaborative effort with my husband Roger Kull. He is an incredible leather artist and my best friend. Roger created the leather strap on the spurs and boot loops and helped with the design.  Fantastic job!   We are excited for the auction on Saturday evening.

Moving Right Along!

The BOOT is really starting to take shape and move.
I am so honored to have been asked to do this for the Cowgirl Up! Show
Desert Caballerous Museum, Wickenburg, Arizona

An artist knows when a piece is strong and will be stunning,
this is one of those extraordinary pieces of art.

This is an fun and unique experience.

The final showing and auction will take place Saturday the 19th of March
at the Desert Caballerous Museum, Wickenburg, Arizona
Cowgirl Up! Auction at the evening auction with the famous auctioneer, Carson Thomas.
Everyone, get your tickets and come on out!!!

Beads are being applied, this is slow!

As most understand with my work, the bead work takes longer, this was no exception.
The bead work is where I
want it and the colors are in the early layers.

This is turning out to be a beauty!

Design painting begins!

Not a bad days work. The base colors are defining the BOOT.   It's moving faster than I expected.

Thank you to all the followers watching on Facebook!  It's amazing to realize how many friends are following this project.  Some of you have been by The Ranch to see the progress.  Thank you for the great comments.

Stay tuned...

The Boot! Rose design and size

The reference design has been chosen and measured for size and placement.  At this stage, I am looking at the size of beads to be painted or how many! The design is penciled on to the boot, it won't be ready for color yet.

THE BOOT! Continue

The experience continues...base color was painted on the sole and the boot. Preparation work is the foundation.  It has moved into the studio.
The boot is made of fiberglass and is light for its size.  It came gessoed so with a little sanding and the base color applied.  Stay tuned.
